or is it the injector pump ?,,gonna nedd some help figuring out what is wrong /,, over last couple days ,lost a lot of power , making a lot of smoke ,using more fuel ,been having to use ether to start, today , even on warm engine .. makes me wonder about the injection pump ,or if the motor is just worn out all of a sudden , all new fuel filters , fuel flow seems good , new air filter too ,each improvement made no difference ,, not sure how to diagnose the problem , if any one has got any pointers to help me , I would appreciate it , thanxjim

A sudden loss of power can be air related, if you have heavy black smoke. If the air intake checks OK, and filters are good take the inlet hose off at the turbo, check the compressor wheel for end play, should be less than .010 inch. Check radial bearing play, it should not rub the housing. If it has rubbed the outer fins will be damaged, and turbo needs replaced. If you can check the inlet boost pressure at full load it should be 10-12 PSI. Turbocharged engines are actually overfueled and count on turbo boost to provide extra air to burn clean. Lose the turbo and both smoke and exhaust temperature will increase.

from what you described something has gone wrong with the injector pump, all at once having to start with ether with a warm engine leans toward the pump instead of the turbo, a bad turbo could cause all the other problems

Hey guys if it runs its not injection pump
I'd bet money your hose or tube from the turbo to intake has come apart or has a hole rubbed in it
Check that closely
Been there done it
Good luck
