IH 615 cylinder speed gague

Working on my 615 and my cylinder speed gauge
seems to be stuck running at 1200 rpm's. I have
changed the pulleys on the side for corn and
the variable speed lever in the cab works. I
can watch the belt move in and out on the
sieves but the speed never changes on the
gauge. I used my electric laser tachometer to
ensure the speed was changing and I have it
running about 560 rpm right now. Does this mean
that my gauge is shot or is it something on the
other end of the cable? I just looked up a new
gauge and its 233 from case any ideas?

I checked and they are the same part number. Im assuming mine is shot since it never changes from 1200 rpms the belt is still good on the other end that drives it

From the looks of the parts diagram, there's a lot going on between the belt and the tack. Looks like some type of an adapter and a cable. I'd remove the tack, then run the machine to determine that the drive cable is turning before I would pursue a new or used tacho. Sounds like the tacho is cooked but best determine if that's all you need to fix before you get started. Happy to help.

I took the gauge out last nite and the cable does run when the combine is running. So I'm guessing it is the actual gauge. Are you willing to part with the one you have?
