Done Again!

Good thing I had not taken the head off the combine yet, Neighbor up the road came down and asked if I would cut his beans for him. He only has 15 acres that he plays with (he is retired) but the guy that was going to cut them fell ill 2 months ago and just got around to calling him to let him know he was not going to cut for him.

Monday I went up and started cutting them and boy were they fun to cut. Good drilled beans but boy were they loaded with wild onions! Man did it smell good in the cab! My eyes watered a lot to say the least! My cycle bar is wore and green onions made her shake and cause me to run slower. The whole time I was cutting I kept hearing a squeak and could not find it. I got them all cut and for late planted beans (July 1st) they made good 44 bu an acre which aint bad at all for this year. Took the combine home and blew it off again and greased it and oiled all the chains again and put her in the barn for the winter. I did find the squeak while doing the clean up, Straw walker bearing behind the fuel tank went out. So only having a fuel filter go bad and a bearing go out at the end aint bad. If they could only go that smooth every year! Neighbor said he is very pleased with my cutting job and really liked how clean they were, We said he walked the fields and didn't find many beans on the ground. He said my old JD 95 did a better job than the other guys combine ever did over the years. Now it looks like I have another 15 acres to cut next year. Now I am really done! Bandit

I agree with Delta, A 95 is a very good older combine. I owned 3 of them over the yrs, doing my own and custom work. Very trouble free, but still easy to fix, when needed. One of mine would 'out cut' my 105 in beans and oats. clint

It sure don't! I have seen ware they will use them to build there nest in the combine. Cut wild onions will wilt and dry and look just like dry grass, But they still smell! I wish there was a good way to keep wild onions under control, They are hard to keep under control. Bandit
