Cold weather combining

I have never used my combine in this extreme cold weather. Its a 1420 CIH, its usually real easy starting and runs well. Will the either injector do the trick or do I need a block heater also? And what other things do you do for cold weather?

If the corn plants have snow on them, you can't combine at a temperature above about 20 degrees as the snow will melt inside the machine plugging it up. Cold air and cold snow, it blows right on thru.

Use Number 1 fuel or a winter blend. Use some kind of fuel dryer. I used 10/30 oil in my old Gleaner M. If its in good shape the either injection should get her blowin smoke.

I hate using ether on any engine, but particularly diesels. Prefer block heaters. Have used space heaters blowing into a tarp-covered block on a couple of occasions too - be careful. Ran in temps between 0F and 35F last winter, and plenty of snow. F2 433I diesel engine is a tough starter below 50F, but with block heater it starts like it's 85.
