conventional combine bounce

When not under load, what makes a conventional combine get into a rhymic bounce when it is at an idle and the thresher engaged?

If the bounce is up and down and your running it with filler bars (or not) in I would say check the cylinder out for dust and material build up inside causing it to be out of balance.

If the motion is more back and forth that would be the shaker bed witch is somewhat normal. Bandit

If your cylinder is way out of balance you will feel it way more at running speed. Yes, it can be balanced but odds are that is not your problem as you would have been feeling it all the time the combine is running. Mike

it could dust sitting on the bottom cylinder bars
and at low speeds it makes the cylinder out of
balance then centrifical force will throw the dust
out of the cylinder and balance should return
especially common in combines with filler plates
installed even happens on my
N5 gleaner from time to time

If it bounces worse at full throttle it could be dust in the cylinder as others have mentioned or your straw chopper rotor could be out of balance.
