the coupling connecting the shafts between my 843 ih head and the 1644 combine is getting hot at the coupling, tried to make sure the alignment was good but no change, any thoughts on why this is getting so hot.

My 843 coupler always ran hot....That wasnt one of IH's better ideas...Corn heads pull hard and theres lots of strain on that coupler..

1206, thanks for responding, I don't like the part getting hot but it least it sounds like I am not the only one with the problem. thanks!

I finally ran some corn and checked my 843 on a 1620. it was cool to the touch. now I have the universal/pto/u-joint type of connector found on the 1000 series and not the hex shaft coupler. not sure why one would be so different from the other. this a nice upgrade. much easier to attach/detach than the other.
