Had some time this afternoon after work to pull one of the stalk rollers on the corn head that has "play" in it. That is, I can grab a knife and move the roller by hand an inch each way. Neither the roller or the coupler appear to be worn out. It is not a square drive. I don't know what to call it but their are teeth on the male coupler that mate to the roller. Looked fine so I put a wrench on the coupler and there is play at that point so I am thinking their is a problem in that particular gear box. That is about as far as I can go right now, I think. If I start opening up boxes I will never get on the field. So I guess the far right row is going to be less efficient than the others. It is the only one with substantial play. A couple others have a little bit of play and the rest are tight.
