4400 unload auger

Was picking corn today with the old girl, getting along just fine until I was going to unload, auger turned about twice, nothing hardly coming out. Shut it off tried again, no help. Happened to try it with the separator turned off, then it would unload just fine. Its dark now, time to quit. Anybody have an idea what's going on here?

Hope it's not the bearing in the drive on the engine or the splines on the flywheel. With the mill engaged the drive may not be turning so no unloading auger turning. Does the combine move ok? Keep us posted. Good luck....Ron

I had a 4400 and sometimes the unloading auger would not turn. It would not happen very often but it was a bother. I would stop the combine, swing the auger away from the machine and remove any corn from the bottom of the auger. It would then be ok for many more loads. It seemed to happen if the combine was on a slope with the auger facing down slope.

Unload belt slipping? Should snap over center

The center button and pin that align and drive the outer swing portion of the auger didn't "miss" when you swung it out and latched it? If it did, it puts it in a bind.

Seems to be working today. I think the unload auger belt has too much looseness as it seems very slack when the handle is down. Will try to snug it up when able. Lousy place to get to under the seat.
