Hesston 7150

How much hp does it take to run a hesston 7150 and how hard is it to convert from 1000rpm to 540? Also are they a good machine? Can get one cheap from a friend

Would be the same has a Case IH 8725. My opinion the Hesston/Case choppers built by Hesston weren't the greatest pull type chopper made.

I don't think you can change it to 540. I think the 7150 and 7160 were 1000 rpm gearboxes and the 7140 were 540 gearboxes. I do know that the gearboxes are different 7150 and 7160 are the same. I would say if you have a good 100hp plus you would be all right. Depends on the crop and what kind of wagon your pulling behind the tractor.
