M2 reel won't raise

Found a better bean head for the M2 and it all works - except the reel raise. Hit the switch, and - nothing. Won't even try to raise 1 side. Even so, do 1 or both rams just need bleeding? Reel speed works fine. Thanks.

Do you have any flow thru the hyd line? If you have flow, try bleeding the line if cycling several times does not work.

ID the proper solenoid, hold the switch for a long time.....minute?.....feel the solenoid for warmth, indicating energizing. Might be the valve is stuck internally.

Would I have flow since the reel speed works? Doesn't the reel v.s. and lift run through the same circuit? This is an older series head, btw.

No- they are sepARATE CIRCUITS/SOLENOIDS. cHECK THE OPERATOR MANUAL FOR THE DIAGRAM of the solenoids. IIRC reel lift is the second pair from the rear of the hyd bank. I"ve had similar issue with reel not coming down. Fixed last year, stopped this year after working at first. Might be sticky valve again.

you can check your solenoid by having someone hold the switch in the lift position with the engine running or the oil pressure switch jumped with a bypass wire and the engine off, either way be careful even with the engine off and the switch by-passed, if the wrong switch gets hit that circuit (could unintentionally move!!!) when activated touch the end of solenoid with a screwdriver or wrench it will be magnetize if the coil is working

Found it. I gotta quit thinking "E" and start thinking "M." I was thinking I needed to bleed 1 or both cylinders, but it was just a fuse that had minor corrosion on both ends. E3 has a lot less electrical - that's what I'm used to. So, I'm down to adjusting a chain, oiling and greasing, and hammering a few rivets tight in the sickle. Then I think I'll be ready to go. Only thing bothering me now is an engine oil leak I haven't found. Whole side of engine facing the fuel tank is wet w/oil, it's puddled on the deck, and has ran partway down the left side. Valve cover bolts are tight. One more thing - JMS or anyone else, where can I find a wiring diagram for the auto header height control? the red, blue, and white wires are on the side of the throat, but the plug has been ripped off. With the auto h.h. switch in the "auto" position, should there be some current at the red or blue wire? Sorry, I know I threw a lot into this post. Thanks for any help.

Operator manual has the wiring diagrams for all functions. Toward the back of the book. If you don"t have one, be aware that manuals are serial number specific.
