215 header cart

Gonna build a header cart for my 215 grain head. I need it to be the right height to make it easy to hook up to 4400. Anyone build one before and what size running gear did you use?

Just built one for a 220 JD flex. Used a 8 ton gear but a 4 ton is more than enough. Can provide dimensions if needed.

Getting the head high enough to go on a trailer may be a problem. I had trouble with my 4420 lifting high enough. I had 23.1x26 front tires. Something you might want to check.

The lower the gear, the better. An old JD 953 works well- low down, trails well.

You can buy the low, low tires that come on a factory built header cart. They fit a standard 6 bolt hub. Obviously, this adds considerably to the expense, but it'll still be cheaper than a new cart.
