1680 settings for beans???

Started cutting beans with my new to me 1680. Beans are 12.8% moisture but green stems. They sound like chunks of wood going thru machine. Running 450 rpm low side on rotor, 4.5 on concave 900 on fan. Also getting more whole pods in sample and more splits than my 1460 is getting. Any suggestions on my settings?? Thanks Chad.

Tighten up the concave clearance some and close down the sieve until you can't live with the amount of clean coming back through the return. Don't worry too much about pods unless it looks like you're running 25% pods to beans (which is A LOT of pods). Get them off the field at higher moisture, you shouldn't get docked for some pods in the sample.

I think if you tighten up the concave like kell said you will sound even worse. To get those whole pods shelled I think you should run the rotor faster. I ran mine at 640 this year on my 1660. Also ran the fan at 1000 rpm. Don't worry about the splits. I have never gotten docked at elevator for splits.

Do you have a standard or specialty rotor? If it is a standard they will rumble terrible in poor conditions. And bring the rotor speed up.

on my 1680 with 20 foot header i am running the scale on my concave betwen 1 and 2. rotor at 700 and fan at 850. have had good luck over the years.
