Hose Mod. on Gleaner header.. question.

I have a 300 head on a f2 that has the floating bar and it does not feed shorter soys well as they build up and then slug which plugs the feeder. It is known for this problem, as are other heads also. I read about the hose mod, laying a piece of 3 inch hose behind the sickle to get the material flipped and closer to the auger. Supposedly it works very well. I am going to try it and see. My concern is where to put the reel. Do I move it forward, back, leave it but run it higher just above the hose? I don't think I would want the fingers hitting the hose. Any advice or comments on this?

The hose gets the butt of the stem up in the air a bit so the reel pushes them in. Works well. Guess I never worried about the reel left it where it was, it didnt hit my 2 inch hose.

Not sure why you plug the feeder, never have done that, it does have adjustment. I ran the hose mod and left the reel all the way back and down. Check the belt that runs your feeder, it also may needed to be tightened.
