Saw this on Craigslist...Maybe they would throw in the D JD tractor..

Neighbor has a G3 and it looks like this one except its galvanized with no paint. Funny you should post this because last night at our local museum board meeting which I'm on, one of my fellow board member said his dad bought a G4 back in the 50s and it was a horrible combine. Called it a throwaway combine. Traded it for a JD 55 and never looked back.

We had a G2 with a Hercules engine that was underpowered. Also had a G3 with a "Z" engine with all chain drive; after Dad properly adjusted the governor, that was a real combine that could walk away from a G4 and also a JD 65 in heavy straw.

The G4 was all belt drive, quiet operating but quite a bit of power was lost to belt slippage.

BTW, you couldn't give me one of those old D's. We had 3 of them at one time - lots and lots of trouble with them.

I called and talked to him about a month ago and offered iron price for it. He thinks its really valuable.... he wants 3000 for that D!
