IH 820 platform

Pounded out alot of acres today with the new to
me auction bargain 1460 and 820 bean head. Had
zero issues and I had no problem with the head
feeding, even in short beans. Conntantly fed
evenly and with out bunching. So either the 820
head was not so bad, or some one did some great
updates on it, cant not complain for a $4200
soybean rig. Not happy with the blow by of the
engine in the 1460, but she started right up at
28 degrees, had 60-70 psi oil pressure, and
plenty of power. Whats the deal with these
engines and their blow by of oil. Didnt burn
any, but had about 1.5 quarts out of the crank
case vent in about 4 hours of full rated engine
load rpms'

Sometimes I think that 820 header was a better header than the 1020's.

Glad it worked out for you.

If you want those slotted grates I'll hold them for you till we can make a connection.

I have a friend from Cold Springs that comes down a couple of times a year.

Some of that blow by may be fuel?

I will take you up on them grates as I will be adding small grains and straw sales to my rotation. On the blow by, I do wonder if I am getting fuel in there as well. I am gonna change the oil again and see how it looks after a couple hours of running only. Got awful black quick. Sure starts good though.
