Gleaner K update

I tried the gleaner k today after adjusting the cylinder speed and its cleaning the cobbs off nice now, none are broken so I guess the speed was just too low.
I did notice that I'm losing kernels around the concave door that you open with the tool. Just wondering if there is a seal that might be gone or could I put some duct tape across there to keep from losing kernels as a quick fix?

Front edge, side, or where is the corn leaking out?

Is your door bent up any from a rock?

Paul

At the bottom, around the spring and latch, where the door meets the metal piece. there are two flat pieces of metal there, I could tape to those pieces and the tape would cover where the pieces meet and that's where the kernels are falling out. I don't see anything bent paul, I put the tool on the latch and pushed back to make sure the door was closed good but they are still falling out.

Our old Super 92 Massey never hit the field without duct tape on it somewhere. There's none on the 9500. I'm a little more diligent about sealing things and I think newer combines are a little tighter. Notice I said little.

nh8260,
Did you open door and reclose it? The door could have started to open and junk got around the edge.

Open it up and clean all around the edges then close it up and see if there is still a gap.

Also make sure the lock snaps up against the door tight. If it doesn't that could let the door slip down some.

Also I posted pics of the block you were looking for below.

I've tried to open the door, i put the tool in it and pulled on the latch but the door would not open, i'm pulling up toward the corn head, i'm guessing thats the correct way? Is there a trick to opening and closing it?

nh8260,
Like the other poster said before, be careful that latch snaps in and really snaps on the way out.
I think that I sometimes had to push the bar with my foot. Try both ways. You will feel the spring give.
Make sure you lock the head up!
Clean up around the edges real well. I never had a leaking problem there.

Does tthe rod that the door pivots on, have a groove worn in it at the pivot point? That may leave enough gap to let kernals out, as the door would shift to the front of the machine.

ok, it must have more tension on it than i thought, to close the door, do i just pull the handle back till it snaps or push the door closed then move the handle?

I'll make sure nothing is sticking out and the edges are good and clean.

You push the door up into position, then the latch snaps in to lock it there.
If the door is slightly open, the latch may have snapped out already. just try to pry the door down (that's what the end of the bar is for). This could have happened if a slug of corn came in, or a rock came thru the machine. Heck maybe the last guy never locked it up right!
