This past Friday I attended an estate sale near Ft Scott,KS..Here are the pictures in order with results..There was a 60 by 120 shed full of household items,tools,antiques-etc..This family used to farm 2000 acres and all the late model farm machinery was sold in 1994 at a retirement auction..

1-2 Nice Super 92 Massey Ferguson with 12 ft head sold for scrap for $475..It had been in the family since new and was always shedded.

3-Nice always shedded 2 row IH picker sold for scrap for $450..

4-5 Nice McCormick ensilage blower sold for $4,500,yes $4,500 and goes to the Amish..

6-Nice original good running 830 JD sold for $7900...It went 4 miles down the road and I hope that he leaves it original..The nice early M Farmall beside it sold for $1400...It had several M&W options..

7-Nice 4 bottom Oliver pipe frame trail plow went for scrap for $235..

8-Nice 5 bottom Oliver trail plow missing two wheels sold for $275 and went for scrap..The F-20 Farmall behind it sold for $300..The guy that bought it was on the American Pickers show a few years ago...The nice JD grain drill went for around $3,000..

9-When the sale was over we drove over to north of Moran,KS where another sale was to be held on Saturday..On it was my late Dads old 1957 445 MM LP tractor..Dad owned it from 1967-74...We sold the 445 to a farmer north of Bronson,KS and the current 90 year old owner bought it at the estate auction north of Bronson in 1990.

10-This neat old home on 20 acres was to sell Saturday where the 445 MM was..I couldnt be at this sale because of the Ft Scott,KS tractor show where I showed two 101 Massey tractors..

11- Decent E Gleaner that recently sold on a retirement sale near Tiffin,MO..It sold for $850 and will be used..The owner grew up 1 mile from me..

12-My 1945 101 Senior and my 1941 101 Super Massey -Harris tractors at the Ft Scott,KS show on Saturday..

shame to see good equiptment go for scrap. I'd also like to know where these guys sell there scrap to, current price here is $165 per ton of unprepaired which means that picker has to weight about 2 3/4 ton to break even. haha I just don't get those guys. I woulda been tickled pink with those oliver plows for that price.

I was wondering the same thing here. The best scrap price here is $160 or $210 if you haul in 50 tons a month. I'm going to a sale this upcoming weekend with a bunch of JD A's and B's. I'm going to try and compete with the iron guys to save a few to resell.

Thanks for sharing the auction info and the pics. I too cannot figure the scrap iron guys giving that kind of money and turning it in to a profit. Maybe they know something we don't. So, why did the blower bring $4,500?
Wasn't bad money for the 830.

All this scrap iron will go to a huge yard about 30 miles away from the sale that sells it for $300-400 a ton..He has a buyer at the sales...I sure hated seeing this stuff going for scrap but I just cant buy it all..

When you deal in huge volumes you can get top prices...They keep 8 semis busy and are way behind,,..They hauled over 40 tons from my place last week that had been paid for for 2 years...I hear that there is govt money involved..

If I hauled in a load I would get $175 a ton..

The silage blower sold for $4,500 to a guy that sells to the Amish...He had it sold it for $5,000..The runner up bidder was an Amish guy..This item was sure the talk of the sale..

Tha "blower" looks to be a chopper as well..notice the "4 knives" lettering. I could see an Amish man wanting to have a ensilage machine that can run on a belt. My Dad had one of those combo blower/chopper. Was real convenient for creating fresh forage on the fly for the few cows we had.

Seriously, boys, when you hear of them in Kansas post it here. I've been looking for a super 92 in useable shape. Probably just run about 40 acres of milo through it a year, but it would be fun for something small like that and a fun change from the 9500. I've had my eyes open but always get to the dance after the last song is over!

Call 417-667-9795 and ask for Dale...I'll bet its still sitting there just 5 miles NE of Ft Scott,KS..

For years on here I've told about farm sales with old combines on them and no one on here ever bought one so I just finally quit trying..
