Monitor question

This might be a dumb question but I don't know the answer, do they make a monitor unit for older combines like a gleaner K? It would be nice to see how many bushel per acre a field is yielding.

google Dickie Jon monitors....IIRC they made add-ons like shaft monitors, etc. Maybe acre meters and yield monitors as well.

Ag Leader may be your best bet for a yield monitor to fit that model.

Saying that I don't think they made a yield monitor to fit any combines build before 1985 or so.

If you find one made to use on that model it will cost more than the combine is worth. Just sayin.

Acugrain made a simple yield monitor that could be adapted to about any combine. Maybe craigslist or eBay for a used one?

This will be our third harvest with a yield monitor in the combine, we won't have a combine without one from now on. The information is too valuable to me and my agronomist.

We have the Ag Leader system with the Versa display. We plan to upgrade to the Integra this winter so we can use it for monitoring our planter performance next spring.

The monitor and cabling will worth more then your K.

My display, wiring harness, mass flow sensor, and installation cost $5,600.

I'm sure you won't find a mass flow sensor designed for use with a K, but there might be an older style still available somewhere.

we did so much share crop we measured fields by the hopper and moisture content without a combine monitor. If you know how many bushels the hopper holds don't dump until full and check moisture each dump. We kept a tester in the combine at all times.

Your method will give you an average across a portion of the field. The advantage of the yield monitor is that you can see how the yield changes across the field and lead you to discussions of the reasons for the differences. Those differences can be due to topography, water carrying capacity, changes in fertility. If you know the areas of differences you can begin to address them.
