Corn Harvest

How's the corn looking in the Midwest guys? Will anybody start picking anytime soon? I planted Pioneer 0210 which is a fast die/dry variety and it is already at 23 percent moisture so I'm hoping in another couple weeks I can run the gleaner k combine through it. Got all my parts to put it back together, turned out the center of the clutch disc broke out so it will have a new clutch this year. I also planted Pioneer 1319 and DeKalb 6469, the dekalb was very uniform on the ears, the pioneer was up and down on ear size. When they say fast die they mean it, went from green to brown in two weeks!

Are you running the cob shield in your K? I have an E that I want to pick some corn with but I don't have the shield, and I don't want to break the wooden raddle slats.

Planted the first week of June due to rain. Been cold and wet most all summer. Just starting to dent. Just waiting it out to see what happens.

The shield fits in at the end of the raddle chain. Its suppose to keep cobs from being deflected back into the underside of the raddle chain.

I need some keys to lock the cab of my K, I got some from a salvage yard, they would go in the lock but would not turn it. I'm going to have to leave this machine places I would feel better with the door locked. I have the all metal cab, I can get the serial number of the cab if needed.

West Centeral Wisconsin We planted May 10th 92Day corn, just starting to Black Layer. I will post some Pictures when we get rolling.Crop looks Very Good. We narrowed up a old International 400 Cyclo Air Planter from 38" to 36" 4 row wide. Turn plant population up to just under 30,000 per acre. Cobs look a little smaller, I guess we will have to see how the gravity boxs fill up.....

Corn harvest is about 50-60 % done in eastern Kansas and western Missouri...Yields are all the way from 150 to 225 bushels per acre dry land which is unheard of..It was done on 12" of moisture at my place...My renter just shelled mine and the monitor hit 200 bushels per acre in some spots...I'm hoping it made 180-190..

You can add 2011,2012,and 2013 together and not have much over 150 bushels per acre....The problem now is everyone is full of corn and no one is buying..

I'm in NW Illinois, near Rock Island. Haven't seen any corn combined here yet, the guys I talked to said another week or so. I checked some yesterday, 28% hand shelled, another variety was a long way off yet. We had a storm in June, lots of wind damage, down twisted stalks, poor stalk quality, I'd like to get going soon. Chris

It goes at the rear end of the raddle chain. I've had cobs get hung up betwixt it and a slat before, so it didn't do much good. 4 1/4 or 5/16 carriage bolts hold it in if I recall. Holes are slotted so you can move shield closer to or further from the raddle? Don't remember about that, would have to look.

Been shelling some everyday the highest moisture I had was 15.9 about 160 bpa which is very good for the clay ground I'm on now.
