2366 Feeder house chain

The feeder house chain runs to one side and slightly hits a guide that it should not.

The drum at the front is not quite square like it should be when the chains are evenly tightened.

The chain is not that old and has run this way since it was installed.

Did I get a bad chain or what are your ideas?

The only other thing I can think of would be one sprocket worn more than the other.

Have you jerked the chain out to measure each side yet ?

If one side of the chain is longer which is possible I guess that would definitely cause your problem. Didn't get an extra half link in one side?

Have you checked the bushings in the back of the drum support arms? Also the holes they fit into get worn over time.

Been busy and now I have time to reply.

After I posted this I went to try to figure out what was happening.

I gave up after about an hour and pulled the feeder house chain out.

I found that one chain was 2 inches longer than the other. Stretched for some reason.

The bars and links do not look that wore but they sure are stretched.

New chain is ordered.

due to the rotor pulling the crop in on the right side and pushing it up on the left side ...the feeder chain will stretch one sided over time in a ih combine ..... however to keep this problem in check we always turn the chain around every year when we go over the combine getting it ready for the next year ...hope this helps
