Gleaner K Question

Just wondering if a Gleaner K has the ability to crack corn? I didn't know if you could adjust the concaves to have it do a rough crack on the kernels?

That's funny. Because I think there are those who would say that's all they can do!
(I ran Gleaners for many years, and would still have one if there was a dealer nearby.)
The K has a closed concave(grain cannot fall through it), and many options for concave bars. So you can do just about anything you want to with it.

Yes they can crack corn or with a proper setting can give a very good sample. It sounds like you are wanting to crack the corn. If you are, cylinder speed high, maybe add more concave bars, put sheet metal under sieve that is used for small grains, keep return elevator screen door shut, adjust air to keep from blowing over and set chaffer and sieve to get it in hopper.

Using the channel concave bars, 6 of them, would give 12 surfaces to crack the heck out of the corn. Twice as many as the angle bars, and more aggressive than the half-rounds.
