Welding on a combine question

Working on the lights on the CIH 1660. Things are actually clipping along and I have all but a couple of the maybe 16 lights on it working from the switch. Lots of broken circuits.

I have one of the four lights above the windshield that cannot be tightened to the combine any longer. There is no access to the back side of the bracket and the nut on the outside is up as far as she will go and the bracket still spins in the hole.

SO...I have a guy who does welding on machinery for me and he is coming out to do some work on the field sprayer. Thinking of having him just tack this bracket to the body of the combine if possible. Will this be OK or is there danger of messing up the electronics? Not a welder so no clue. Can anyone help me out? Not sure the welder will know.

I've welded on the 9500 many times. Just remove the negative cable and it should be fine. Make sure he clamps his ground close so the path is as short as possible.

OK, thanks! Will disconnect the battery and cover everything in the area of the weld. Just going to be easier in the long run if I get this thing secured. I actually had two lights with the same problem but I cut a washer and slid it in as a spacer on the other. This last one is too far gone to save though.

Have (at minimum) a garden hose handy, in case some chaff trapped inside somewhere catches a spark.

Remain around the area of the machine for a couple of hours (at least) afterwards, just in case something got started to smolder, then takes off, later. BT,ST.
