Found a corn head for my jd 55 however the guy wants 1250 firm its in good condition but it's out side and not 100% perfect. I was told top is 600 for good runner is that right

That does sound a little steep but then again if is field ready that sure helps. So many parts are obsolete for those old heads you couldn't spend much on a non working one to get it up to that price.
The biggest issue is how far you have to travel. Driving costs dollars these days. If it is nearby that helps too.
The next thing is how quickly do you need it? I'm going to say that three row narrow heads to fit the 55 don't come along all that often.
Also be aware that you can get fancy and find yourself a quik-tach feederhouse for the 55 and get yourself a 343 corn head which has good parts availability as well as being a better header.

I have a 45 with a 234 so I'm in no hurry. I like the quick-tach 343 idea.
Those things are getting too scarce(scrapper's torch) to 'quibble' much on price.If you need it,you better buy it,you may not find another.Yes 1200 is a bit steep,but If I needed it,Id buy it.The regret of not buying it will remain much longer then the sting of a 'high' price.
I dont know where you are, but if 3 narrow rows is your goal, I have a 313 corn head which is a 3 Row narrow for your 45 if you could be interested. I'd do about half the price of what the guy wants for the 335 
. Also have a nice 235 header and 10 ft platform in good shape for the 45 if any of that would help you out. We will need the platform until soybean time this fall but it's up for grabs after that.
