JD 4400 concave replacement question...

This is a followup wherein I'm replacing my rasp bars on my 1978 JD 4400 combine and possibly replacing the concave. I laid a straight edge on each concave bar crosswise and they are level and not bent down; however there are a couple that are slightly bent upwards. Is it necessary to remove the finger bars at the rear of the concave before removing it? Or, can the concave and finger bar removed and reinstalled as one unit? The JD 4400 Tech book says you have to. Anyone who has done this I more than appreciate their assistance.
