Any idea if this has canvas or crimper rollers? Also how many feet would it be wide? Sorry the guy that's selling this knows nothing about it and he's 4 hours from it so hard to try and buy.

Definitely canvas. I can make out the tightener. Looks 10 ft. to me. Just not enough there to tell if it has the crimper. You don't have to know anything about it to go out and measure the width. Does he know anything about a tape measure?

Thanks for the help. I guess I'm wanting more of a auger and crimper hay machine. Yeah it's 4 hrs away from him and he bought it on a online auction and has no idea what it is.

You should be able to find a crimper pretty easily if it doesn't already have one. Should be cheap and it will bolt right up.

I don't like them for hay because you get a fixed swath width, which is narrow. Would be OK for hay silage though.

Holy moly, I wrote you a reply and then did a little research before replying. Good thing!

This ad shows the 830 is different than the common 800 around here, it does have an auger on this one.

Anything I was thinking of saying woulda been wrong.

Go to www.tractorhouse.com and look up the model,

They have one, -it- has a draper canvas head!

Widths can go to at least 14 feet.

So, we are left with a lot more questions than help for you,

Paul

I had one a few year ago and.... I wouldn't ever have another one. I fought the draper almost constantly. The conditioners liked to get plugged anytime I was cutting more than about 1 ton to the acre. All the chains were loose/worn as were the sprockets.
I hear they were good machines but mine was just flat worn out. I'd look it over good regarding chains, drapers, draper tensioners, and the wobble box on the sickle.

Canvas for sure. I have a JD 800 with canvas and I really like it. Especially, for taller grass and millet. Auger headers have a tendency to wrap hay around auger then plug and your diggin the crap out. NOT WITH CANVAS. I've replaced all chains on mine this year using diamond chain not the cheap Chinese junk. Bought a NOS sickle bar at JD that was dated 1972 on the box !!! Adjusted all chains. When we found it the Chrsyler industrial slant six was stuck from sitting. A little time and it was running. Bought it for $500 and probably put $1000 into it. Buy hey its PAID FOR !!! Got a JD 224 T baler that I drug out of the scrap yard traded a junk farm truck and a $100 bill for it. Then we had the dealers removed for maintence and seen the drive rollers were shot on the lower end. Just a oiled bushing. JD wanted $200 for the rolls less bearings. I bought sch 40 tubing for $15 turned the inside diameter to press fit the bearings. Works good for the cheap. BUY IT youll regret it if you don't. We cut almost 400 acres this year with mine and baled over 3000 bales with the 224t. The Chrysler is fair on fuel too. It also has a hay head unlike ours has the grain head. Get a manual off eBay for about $20. Enjoy !!!
