Concave 6600

Can anybody tell me what is different or what I have to modify to put a new concave in my 6600 that is below serial number 11500. When you look through the parts books they all say for serial number 11500 and up.

The old style concave had a different rock/stone trap, plus you could remove several of the rear bars on the concave.

To install the newer concave you will need the following:

Newer finger bar for the rear of the concave

Newer rock trap that bolts to the front of the concave.

I would go to a salvage yard and get a complete concave and the little parts out of a newer JD 6600. Then buy a new concave and use the small parts of the donor combine.

The adjusters and pivots will work on the newer concave.

The older concave is not available anymore. It has not been for years. JD used to make a kit to change them over. I would just get a newer serial number concave and buy the small parts from a salvaged combine.
