JD 4400 cylinder bar replacement question-followup

This post is a followup from a previous post regarding my 1978 4400 combine that needs the cylinder bars replaced. It has 3500 original hours. I've decided to go with the A & I brand; they offer the regular and the harden. Price is $8.00 more for the harden vs. the regular ($415.00 vs. 423.00 since I last checked) I am asking for input and/or advice to purchase the regular or the harden bars. It will be the first time to repalce them since I have owned the combine. I will also check the conditon of the convave-but the cylinder bars defintely need replaced. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

if their the same design for difference in the money I'd go with the hardened ones you'll think you have a new machine compared to the worn out bars,we put a set of rebuilt hard faced bars with every other tooth removed in our F3 last year there was a real difference especially in tough green bean stalks old bars weren't completely worn out but we should have changed them the season before as much difference as they made

IF you don't have rocks go with the hardened bars. IF you have rock go with the regular bars. A rock will break a hardened bar where it will only bend a regular bar.

Other than that I would always use the hardened bars as they last much longer.
