As some may know I recently recieved a Gleaner A2. I have an IH 80 with scour clean that I have had for over a decade. My question is if the Gleaner will clean the grain as well as the IH 80. I will be doing some harvest for seed and am torn about getting rid of the IH 80. It is a great little unit but I may need to think about getting rid of it to make room in the barns. Thanks in advance for any thoughts and comments.

If you are torn, then keep the ih 80, if not you will regret it. Might be time for an addition to the barn or do some creative storing practices, I have seen many items hanging from beams to create space. Good luck!

My vote would be to keep the 80 if at all possible. The scour clean is reason alone. I started out running an 80 30+ years ago, wish we still had it, dad sold it when the 205sp IH came. The 205 left when a K2 gleaner came. Never could get as clean a sample with the K2 as the IH units did. Not saying it did bad just not quite as good. Run a 4420 JD now and would sooner have any of the other units than it, they were a lot easier to work on.
As for storage, you could get one of those fabric sheds like tractor supply, kmart, walmart, and a couple of other places sell. Brother has had one for ten years or more and is still holding up, only cost about $250-$300 for the one he has(Shelter Logic). I think it is 10X20X8 might be big enough for the 80 to fit in. For extra height we used a couple 4x6's and put it on posts.

Keep that 80; they are good machines. If it is in good shape, and operable, you will be hard pressed to "replace" it again if you ever want one. And you will pay more for it then, than you will get for it now.

I would do as suggested, and either buy or make a little shed to keep it, or other things, in. I bought a $300 round top fabric thing about 4 years ago to keep round bales in. It has help up pretty well.

Best of luck.

It has been a good machine. I pd $165 for it in 2001 I think. It has been stored inside all its life as far as i know. Very low hrs is my guess as all the belts apear to be original. It works great and I do believe I will have to make sure I have room for it. If for no other reason than it is always good to have a back up if needed.

Thanks for the posts
