I have never had nor used a self propelled combine. I have used an IH 80 for all of my combining needs. I just had an A2 given to me with both heads and in working condition. Any info is appreciated and any drawbacks and positives as well. I appreciate the words of wisdom and than you all for your time.

I cut my eye teeth on a AII. They were a good machine back in the day. They are an easy machine to work on.

If you are anywhere near Anna, Texas I'll dang sure give you your money back and then some if its a good, running shedded a A or AII...super combines for a little guy...you can just about clean grain good enough for the seed sack and not ride any over the back. The AII had the cylinder speed control on the platform, too. Now, I have never run one in corn, but they rule in small grains. I would imagine the closed concave would limit them in heavy corn, but for todays piddling they are about the perfect, small self propelled...and, as if it hadn't been mentioned before, they are really simple and the best combine to own when you have to work on it. I love old Gleaners
