Flat belt-lateral tear patch

This is how I repaired a lateral tear, in a flat belt. Used 2 X 4 in vise, "Flat Head" 1/2" copper rivets-with copper washers, drilled belts, held in place with c-clamps, peaned over.
Hope it holds.

Good job, I have seen old belts fixed that way, and with lacing. On the old ones, however, the rivits were always staggered and not across from each other across the face

Thanks,
Thought about that. Will do it on next. Also thought (and tried, but discarded idea) of using one layer of steel lacing hooks. Problem was I couldn't get one point of the hook, thru a drilled hole.
