setting up to combine windrowed oats jd 6620

Me and the old IH 230 went and cut oats yesterday now I'm getting the combine out and ready to combine them this week. This will be my first time using a pickup head and while I am pretty confident about my combine setting ability this job has me nervous for some reason. I thought I would see if any of you folks have some pointers for me as I get the combine ready, its a titan II 6620 and I'll be running an old 100 series pickup head. I think my biggest worry is being able to get enough material in the combine at once to make the separator work properly as the old 230 windrower is only 12.5 foot cut and so even in these nice oats it didn't make a very substantial windrow. Its just a small field but I still want to do a good job for the old man who hired me. Any advice will be appreciated, thanks in advance. I will try to post pictures if I can keep caught up with this project and hay.
