JD cotton pickers prior to 9900 and 699

I am trying to find some information and/or pictures of John Deere cotton pickers prior to the 9900. I have seen a 699 in person but not a 499 and maybe a 299? My grandfather bought a 9900 in the late 70's and I am trying to figure out what he had before that one. I know for a fact he did not have a 699. The one he had before the 9900 caught fire and burned up in the field. I know it had a yellow cab but was not the same style cab that was on the 699 and the 9900.

Any help or information that steers me to where I need to be, would be greatly appreciated!

Finding historical info on cotton pickers is nearly impossible. I did luck out in finding a website with old cotton picker brochures but the oldest one they have is for a 9900. http://www.cottonpickertrade.com/contactus.html. We had a 499 when I was a little kid and I believe the cab was very similar to a 699 and 9900. There's a cotton picker salvage yard in Maury City, TN that still has a model 99 and 699 plus a couple tractor mounted pickers

Two Cylinder did a nice history of Deere's cotton picker development about ten years ago. Might have been over two issues, I can't recall.

It was the best stuff I ever saw on cotton pickers, especially early development.

Thanks! I appreciate it! I checked out their site and you can get past issues but the issue that had the cotton pickers in it (2006) is not available online. I emailed them so hopefully I will hear something back from them.
