1660 CIH work lights

Wondering how these sealed beam lights work? I can see the red and yeller lights are just bulbs behind a plastic cover but the work lights...do you replace the glass part or just take the whole light off and pitch it and replace the unit? Manual doesn't seem to say near as I can tell...just tells me how to point them. Nothing in specs that I saw. Don't have the other books yet...still looking. So dah question is...unbolt the whole unit or somehow replace just the sealed glass part? (after I get done testing and checking continuity of course!)

As an aside, how the heck do you guys do it? Ladder in the back, ladder to the cab, step ladder for everywhere else. There isn't enough glucosamine around to save these knees!

I don't believe the lights come apart. I bet you find the lights to be good. I'm thinking several of the top front cab lights are run via solenoid. Believe I had trouble with that solenoid once upon a time.

Going to have to scare up parts and repair manuals. Not easy on these 80's machines if you want originals. Most of the 1660 manuals are for the later machines after a certain serial number. I'll have to look for the solenoid. Was it up in the roof access or under the control panel? Don't know why they would need such a thing to be honest. Why not just direct connect the lights? The other thing that bothers me there is that I believe there are six of these lights across the front and one does work. Two in the back that I recall and one also works there. Shouldn't they all be on the same circuit?

Really thinking I need these lights. Then I can pick the corn in the dark when nobody can watch me work thru my learning curve. Not like when I planted it. That could have been embarrassing if they all weren't so busy with their own fields!

(sigh) must have been a rough night last night. Somehow pasted a prior message into another post. Caught myself the first time...I thought! :(

Good LEDs are very nice, low power draw, lots of light, and virtually vibration/breakage proof (no accounting for physically running them into things.) Quality can be all over the map, so try to make sure that you can try and send back, or buy one, try it, and only buy more of the same if happy with it; or else figure out exactly what someone else that is happy with theirs bought and buy that.

If I remember correctly, the solenoid causing my grief was the cab solenoid. If I would repeatedly switch the key off and on, I could get the remainder of the lights to work.

The solenoid is located to your right as you sit in the cab. You gain access by removing the panel on the right side of the cab. It is mounted to the rear wall of the cab.
