More Questions on Belle City, 28 X 48, SN 478105

I have many Question on our Historic Charlton Park, Belle City 28 X 48 Thresher, SN 478105?
1. In searching for an operators-parts manual, with the high SN No.478105, Should I be looking for a Case or IHC? What year of production estimate?
In belting up what is the maximum and minimum size (and length) and Driver HP of belting transfer? The driven pulley is 9" and the idle-evenier is 10" I have available power of: my own 38 HP pulley "DC Case". 3020 JD, 720 JD, E-$ coop, steam engines, etc ? Will a 6" X 30' handle transfer?
The machine is in very good health, with very few leaks. The botton Sheive adjustment, is a rod out the side, with notches, but currently no spring pressure, so am holding in adjustment with tie down cord. Was there a spring inside ?

A decent 2 plow tractor or about 30-35 HP will run a 28" thresher so any of the tractors you listed will play with it. Sounds like you need an 8" belt and it needs to be long enough to get the tractor out of the way of the bundle wagons, a 50" belt will put the drive and driven pulleys 25" apart and is about the bare minimum. 100" works nicely.
Cant help you with the other questions, sorry.

PS Neighbor running winter wheat today. Only 70 Bushel / acre, down form record 103 last year. Vomatoxin only about 3 %. No sprouts yet. 16 % moisture.

Some of the winter wheat I cut made 8. That's not a typo. Bad year in this part of Kansas. Sounds like you are gearing up to have a fun work day!

The serial number on the side of the grain pan on mine is 56540 and says 1946. This number is stamped on the side of the thresher also. The shaker shaft for the grain pan needs to run 200-225 rpm. I run mine with a DC Case which is plenty of power. My cylinder pulley is 10" in diameter. A DC should provide enough speed. For the sieves I set the top 2/3 open and the bottom about1/3 open and fan shutters about 3/4 open. For a demo. don't need to be perfect.

Thanks on DC, speed, power, sieve setting and fan doors answer. Thought about such with combine experience.
My newest problem is finding a new or used 8" drive belt as loaner gave out.
Flea bay no help. Manufactures search negative results. Grainger no success. Hit and miss web, no reply. Any help appreciated.
Saw mill gets preference in this matter and have to keep track of borrowers.

Will new post on this topic.

Look for an old-line industrial supply place. There's probably one closer to you, but this place helped me out with a flat belt drive for a lathe, and as I recall had sizes on up to huge.

The 6in belt will work just fine. It will hold about 30 horsepower. You're doing demos, not full capacity. Just need a long enough belt so the bundle wagon can slip in between the tractor and the thresher. Pull the wagon to the left side, opposite the drive belt which gives more room anyway. I don't like pitching across the drive belt; though it is fun to watch a dropped bundle get a free ride on the drive belt. On the opposite side you can get closer to the feeder table. Threshing is fun. Getting the bundles to the thresher, not so much. The Belle City, with its straw walkers, was a great thresher, almost a clone of the IH machine which I use.
Have fun,
Jerry

Picked up 2- 8". One 100' (looped-no lace-, but with external patch on internal wear spot). The other 150', which I think I'll run on thresher, has no patch. The thresher has an idler pulley, to help position belt on driver pulley, by rollers on side and adjustmentable angle. I don't think this idler, would like the external patch and lead to its demise.
