CIH 1660 deck

The 1660 I picked up a couple weeks back has no front railing on the deck. Can anyone tell me, should the deck have a railing that goes from cab to ladder in all cases or is this just when there is a deck extension? When the cab door is open it fills that area but I have never seen one without a railing. CIH parts diagram is a little confusing on this. Personally, I would like a railing up there and will pick one up from a scrapyard if possible. Not crazy about the idea of falling off the front of the deck, I might damage an expensive head!

Here is a link to a pic of my 1660 from when I traded it in. It has a good view of the railing. Hope it helps you out. http://www.thecombineforum.com/forums/members/5097-robmgrig-albums-cih-1660-picture6961-image.html

Good heavens! A combine forum. Needed me to log in to see the pic but I dunno if I have ever been there or not in the past. Lousy memory from too dang much going on at once. Anyhow, I know what the railing looks like, what I am trying to find out is should it have one or does it need a deck extension before you need one? Does that make sense? I have been known to misread manuals and ask questions that are totally off the wall...on occasion.

Great, thanks Matt! I am going to pick one up from salvage and see can I get her up there. Ladder has one broken upright tube also that needs to go. Getting up and down this thing is going to keep me in some kinda shape until I gets the bugs worked out. It is in good shape from the looks of it but you know with 4000 hours there are gonna be a few oops and whatthe's in the works. Right now I am doing something I have never had to do with a tractor...reading the manual cover to cover, one section a night so I have time to assimilate it. It's a whole new world.
