Bought a 1460 that has like new keystock concaves. Will I be able to to beans ro small grains(rye) with them or do I need to start shopping for another set? From what I understand the keystock are mostly for corn, but everyones opinion/ec=xperience is different

I have had a 1660 for about five years now. It came set up for corn. I can't remember, without reading the book, the changes they recommend for doing small grain. But it seems like at a minimum they recommended different grates, which I think you are referring to. I have done wheat and oats with it successfully without changing concaves or grates. Mine has a specialty rotor. I don't know if that makes a difference.

Something which needs to be considered, and is seldom talked about, are local conditions/climate. Straw here tends to be tough, so it doesn't easily get chewed into chaff like in an arid climate.

If we wanted to save the straw we would change the grates to the smooth ones. If straw wasn"t an issue we left the keystock grates in on all grains. Including wheat, oats, soybeans and corn.

Those keystock grates will work just fine in Soybeans.

If you want a set of smooth grates give me a shout.

I have a set hanging on the wall that I will never use again.

Could you shoot me an email on what you would want for them. Having cattle, and the demand for straw in this area, I plan to keep harvest about 50% of the acres that have manure regular.
