234 corn head

You can install a 234 head on a 55, but it would have to have the 55 feederhouse on it. Each combine of that vintage used a different throat because of cylinder width differences. The 45 and 55 were both fitted with 234 and 235 heads but would have been ordered when new to fit a specific model.

In addition the drives would need to be changed.45 uses a belt to drive the head.55 uses a chain. It'spossible with a lot of work and the right parts. You will also have to change the lift cylinder mounts.A 45 has a 26" separator. The 55 has a 30 separator. But it is not a bolt on.Park the two machines side by side.Do a thorough examination,do some measureing with a tape measure. You will soon have your answer.
