Claas Dominator 96

The Dominator made its return to the fields today sampling some wheat. I have a few hydraulic leaks and some more paint work. She is going make someone a nice machine. Is for sale warning JD Seller will likely ridicule you if you purchase. Couple photo"s show modified hydraulic tanks. Added sight glasses and larger fill spots. Claas owner should appreciate that work.

Very nice! I have been wondering in the back of my mind if you ever got it back together.I still wish you were closer to Ga as I probably would be interested in it.My 76 took me a little longer to learn what it likes as far as the setup goes but now it has turned into a great little combine that will give any brand in its class a run for the money.

Massey Pride: I don't remember ever running down a Claus Combine. They have a lot of separator space. Down side is that they are heavy and parts are not easy or cheap to get in the US. Dealer knowledge is just about non existent now too.

I would rather run a Claus any day over a MF 300 or 750. Those MF combines where a real bear to do some repairs on. Like having to pull the final drive off to remove the transmission on most of the older models.

Claas combines are heavy because they are well made!
What you said about the older M-F combines is true in fact some dealers over here did not like taking them in part exchange as they were so difficult to sell again as they had such a poor reputation. I knew of many a Massey tractor fan over here that would not touch an MF combine with a ten foot pole. The Claas is by far the most popular combine in The UK and probably the whole of Europe.

Jim, The Claas Dominator 96 is a earlier version of the Claas Dominator 98 and 108 version that was branded Massey for the 8450 and 8460 combine.

I would be really interested in knowing the s/n for this DO 96. (Tag on RH side above the drive tire) Above s/n 101, would probably have my fingerprints on it somewhere..
Regards,

Claas combines is to Europe what Deere is to the US. Claas is going after Deere in the US market but Deere will win out. Like JD said Claas parts are too spendy and dealers are too few and far between. It's true Claas combines are heavy. They are built strong and can be rebuilt till the end of time. The other brands start cracking here and there and wearing thin in important places.
