Can any one give me a good reliable estimate...

On what it would cost for a decent corn header for an IH 1660? I see the corn header for the R52 I was watching is over $5K. The flex header for that same combine is at just over $1K. Saw a flex for an R52 sell for $285 at an auction in the thumb area in April. What sort of prices are we looking at for the IH 1660 headers? Helps me determine value of the combine alone. Thanks.

You get what you pay for in a corn head.

I'm sure I could find a $500 800 series corn head or a $10,000 1000 series corn head. For that mater a 3200 series corn head will fit that machine as well and they are in the $25,000 range.

800, 900, 1000, 2200, 3200 series corn heads will fit that machine. 800s were made in the early 70's and the 3200s till 2008 or 9.

I would think you could find a usable head for that machine for 2000 or 3000 dollars.

Thanks! That is what I needed to know. Those are dealer prices so I can do better at private sale or auction. Problem is finding one at PS or auction. Hate to buy the combine and then not find a food affordable head for it.

You can get an idea of cost on tractorhouse. I doubt you will get a very good 800 series corn head for under $2000.
