Gleaner header lift

The header lift is not wanting to work on my L. This seems to be happening after the oil gets warmed up. I swapped coils and everything is clean plus a new wire going to the lift coil.

It works perfect then it will simply stop and not work again and this seems to happen once the oil is getting warmed up. The coil is getting power also when it stops working. I am thinking there is a seal or O ring problem or something inside the poppet assembly. I am thinking about replacing the O rings and maybe the seat. Am I looking at this wrong??

Even if you have power to the solenoid- check your ground. Anything electrical...check the ground. When you check the coil for power, you"re maybe using a meter and grounding somewhere to the frame with the meter wire? Coil on the combine may not have a good ground. It"s a one wire system, like the M2? AC was a bit cheap there....expect ground through the components, rather than a second wire.

Thanks for the response. Yes it should be just like an M2 and F2 models and so forth. One wire to the coils. I have been told to check for a good ground I will clean everything good and shine the sleeve up good. Last night I had it running in the yard and let the thing warm up.

I problably lifted the header 15 times never failing to work then it just stopped and did not even try. The hoses and everything was getting warmed up by that time. I will check into the ground issue more.

Grounds are a miserable issue. I have a JD 4450 MFWD with Investigator II monitor system for all dash functions. Not a common system here. JD knows they have a problem...ground fails occasionally and I lose all dash lights/gauges. Added oil gauge to engine just to know that was ok. JD said to check a ground under the hood. Six wires, two bolts. Couple years of intermittent failure.....I soldered all wires together with jumpers, adding a wire down to frame (easy access). Works perfectly now.
