jd 105 intermediate feeder house

Lastv year I bought an intermediate feeder house, and I didn't get an operators manual.I'm having trouble getting my wheat to feed, it raps around the auger in the header and then feeds quite abit at once, and the combine doesn't like that.my question is are the slats on the feeder house chain supposed to be flat or have notches and how tight should the chain be on the side of the feeder house. I think I uploaded a picture to help but I sure could use some help here

Does this have a feeder beater? Are your feeder slats sharp? They wear and get a rounded corner like the auger flights. Speaking of auger flights is the stripper in the header adjusted up to the auger?

Almost sounds like a cylinder bar, beater or cylinder stripper problem. HTH Tom

My feeder house doen't have a beater in front, and I'm not sure I
know what you mean by "stripper head being adjusted up to the
header"

Wrapping on the auger is a lot of times caused by the fingers in the auger not retracting fully as the wheat is fed to the feeder chain. Use 105 feeder houses on JI Case combines and have smooth crossbars on the feeder chain and have no problem feeding a 20' cut. If it wraps before the fingers, then the stripper bar is not close enough to the auger flighting before the fingers. May need to be moved closer to the flighting.

There is an adjustable stripper bar on each side of the header in the back bolted in with slots to allow for. Should be about the horizontal center line of the auger. probably only need 1/8 inch clearance between auger flite and stripper. Tom

If the wheat feeds into the feederhouse all at once your cross auger is not grabbing the crop until it piles up high enough to grab. Odds are your cross auger is too high. Check to see if it is around 3/8-1/2" from the bottom of the platform. You should also have at least one auger stripper (commonly an angle iron) at the back of the auger. It needs to be as close as possible to the cross auger without hitting or binding. Also, and this could be your problem, is the possibility that the wheat simply isn't quite ripe to cut yet. Tough wheat will cause the problems you have as well. Mike

Thanks guys for the advice. My local jd dealer said that the stripper plates we're obsolete, and that I should just buy a new combine.I told them if I had the money to buy a new one I still wouldn't. I'd invest it.So I went to the hardware store and bought some I"angle and 2"flat steel and made themmthat was the problem they worked great and almost got 45 acres done today. But once again thanks For the help,oh yeah I almost forgot I spent 20bucks on the steel and then painted it jd green so it worth at least 50 bucks now lol

Had troubles feeding soybeans after installing a feeder house. Ended up cutting teeth into the feeder house chain slats with a 4 1/2 grinder. Cut 1/8" deep or so every 1/2", made a world of difference.
