Jd 4400 combine hydraulic problems

I recently purchased a JD 4400 combine and am having trouble with lowering the feederhouse. It will raise real easy and fast but it will not lower. I took the valve off from under the cab and took it apart cleaned it and put in new seals. I noticed yesterday when I had a head on it that when I was raising and lowering it it would raise it fine and when I would lower it, it would go down but it done a lot of jerking. I am new to the combine buisness so any help you guys could give would be greatly appreciated.

With our 4400 we always had to rev up the engine to get it to lower a head or the feeder house at a decent rate. I am not sure why it was like that. Our 4420 seems to be a little better, but not great.

My JD 4420 will raise the head at idle, but will not let the head lower until the engine rpm is increased. I think it is a safety procedure so the head doesn't drop on someone working on the combine when it is idling. At a certain point when the engine rpm has been increased, but the rpm still isn't as high as it should be the head will sort of jerk going down. I am not sure as to how it works.
