How can I tell what header I have ?

Its a 7700 john deere I can find a tag but it only has a serial number on it

Its about 19 feed wide grain head with wood slats painted yellow and steel fingers there are no decals or other markings

From what you have described it sounds like a JD 100 or Quick-tach head, These were made for the late 55 95 and 105 combines that had the Quick-tach feeder house. Deere came out with the 100 series combines(3300 to 7700) these were the heads that came on them. In the late 70s the 200 series heads came out and replaced the 100 or quick tach series heads. My old 95 Corn Special has a 100 or Quick-tach head on it with a hume reel and a flouting cutter bar and is a 16 ft head. There was no decal on the 100 series or Quick-tach heads only a serial # plate on them. I hope this answers your question. Bandit

I should have added that these 100 series heads could have a mechanical or hydrolic varable speed reed drive, Mine is mechanical drive on the reel. Bandit

These heads have become known as a 100 head but they originally did not have a model designation. They were simply known as "Quik-Tatch" heads and nothing more. They are NOT a 100 series head. Mike

So if its not a 100 what do I call it? I dont think I can just type in a quick tatch in JD parts and get anyyhing

Try typing in Platform in the search bar then click find, Then scroll down to Quick Tach then do some looking. I have a hard time finding things myself on there and sometimes call JD dealer to ask how to find things on the web site, And they are very helpful. Bandit
