have you checked the relief valve had a 760 once that acted that way it was the relief valve had an 860 once same symptoms but it was the dampener pulley on the engine expensive. you may want to take the whole valve assembly to a hydraulic shop with a test stand so they can tell you what is up. hope this helps

Make sure that your unloading auger swing valve is returning to neutral. If not totally in neutral oil is deadheaded causing it to heat up.

I have completely eliminated that valve for the reels and auger from the header problem by putting a line circulating the oil directly back into the header valve. But the auger linkage is correct and in neutral position. Thanks!

Took it to the only hydraulic place in my area that was willing to look at it and $400 later same problem.. I have adjusted the relief valve every way possible and tried it every time after doing so. I have been told it cracked internally that is causing the heating of oil. Machine only has 1200 hrs on it.

Is it possible for you to swap the valve from another running combine, thus eliminating that option?

Could this be the priority valve for the steering that does not work?

Man that is a tough one. I'm sorry your having so much trouble, maybe a salvage valve assembly? I don't know I'm not a wizard with hydraulics, I sure wish I was some times.
good luck

Bought a 300 dollar header valve and it's doing exactly what it was doing before it completely quit, it raises up now but leaks down... Goodness it's back to square one with wheat to cut

Got the unloading auger to work, linkage was getting caught in instrument panel preventing it from activating all the way from neutral.

Header platform goes up on its own when throttle is increased and stays up until throttle is decreased then it leaks down quickly, the only way the up and down button will work is if the throttle is low. But it still leaked down after raising it up.
