Gleaner F vs K2

I farm about 30 acres and right now I have a 1975 Gleaner F with a gas engine and 13' rigid grain header for running soybeans. I have ran the F for two harvests now. The rigid header makes it a challenge sometimes for soybeans. I may have the opportunity to acquire a Gleaner K2 with a gas engine, black 330 corn header, and 12' grain header with a floating cutter bar. The grain header has adjustable reel speed and reel height. Both combines have choppers on the back. Any thoughts on either the F or the K2? Anything to look out for? Thanks.

You should read some of the posts that I have put up the past couple of months. Lots of info! In one of those posts you will find the following link. I use it several times a week to evaluate machines that I find. It helps a lot when doing comparisons.

The f will have more capacity, I have had the exact situation you are in, I sold the f and bought a k2 and was very pleased. Down sized in capacity but got upgrades like the air conditioner the f did not have and also power fold auger. K2 was a great little combine, I farmed 150 acres with the old girl and she never let me down, not even a bearing. The only issue I remember is the gear shift linkage is touchy, you will be able to work through that though. Good luck!

Well the K2 is a very early 1977, I believe one of the first few made. Overall good shape, I would say at least average condition for its age.
