McCormick 80 combine ?'s

Surprised to spot a McCormick 80 combine down in the dirt this past Saturday, but under cover. I don't know combines but have always thought they look cool, neat, etc. This unit has a 'deep' pickup apparatus ahead of the auger. The friend I was with (we had talked about combines last fall) thought the McCormicks had canvas until the model 82 but obviously not. He didn't have much interest in the 80 as he was there to look at an AC square baler. He stated to the fellow that took us out to look at the baler, referring to me, "he's into McCormick stuff!" Am I out of my mind to be lookin' at this 80? I've got NO inside storage space (they take a big chunk out of a storage area) and NO acres to combine but the buildings are going to be demolished and the new owner wants the implements gone. I shudder to ask this oft asked ? but, what is it worth? It is not known when it was last used. Miles down the road I got to pondering the combine..."you don't see many around" he said. He kept on..."are you gonna get that combine? If the new property owner just calls a scrapper it will be gone." More miles down the road and I stated "Should I just put it out of my mind?" We shook our heads and laughed. Does anyone own an 80 that would be willing to tell me 'bout 'em? I had posted this last Saturday on Implement Alley and a responder stated the tire width was 8" 6" as I had asked. It would be used in small fields for soybeans on ground to steep for a self-propelled combine. Thanks in advance for any input.

The 80 is almost exactly the same as the 82,
mechanically. There is no apron. The only
difference is the separator hood; even the clean
grain tank is the same between the 2 models.

If you do not want it, let me know where it is; if
not too far, I would be interested in it,or parts
off of it. If the platform has the pick-up head
(or dummy head, as some call it), I would buy that
for sure. I run an 82 every year in oats and
beans. A good machine for small acreage.

E-mail is open, if you have any other questions!

The 80 is a great little combine. I bought mine for around $750 and it was set up for wheat. It had a rasp bar cylinder, hard to find in central MI. I have seen some sell for over $1000 and some sell for $100. But condition is your main factor.
