Yesterday morning at 4:30 am I and two friends headed 307 miles west and north to attend the Lahodny estate sale at Concordia,Kansas..We ran in to heavy snow from Eureka,KS to ElDorado,KS...There was probably 1-2" on the ground...When we headed north on 135 there were several bad accidents at Newton as their was ice on the overpasses..After that it was clear sailing and we arrived at the sale at 9:20 am..

At the sale it was around 30 degrees with a strong north wind but at noon the sun came out and it finally got up to 49 degrees later in the afternoon...The AC collectors were out in force and their were few bargains....One bargain was a nice early WC Allis on rear steel for $400..

Here are the pictures in order..

1-2 The nice 1951 R Gleaner went to Mt Hope,KS for $3,000..

3-The Gleaner Fordson sold for $4200 and went to a 330 area code..

4-T Gleaner #1001 (1st built) sold for $1200 and went to northeast Nebraska...There were (3) more T Gleaners and they sold for $575,$500,and $425..

5-The SP 100 AC sold for $2750..

6-The T Gleaner PT sold for $400 and went to Wisconsin...The engine for it was on a pallet and sold for $225

7-The Belle City 1 row picker sold for $2400...

8-The L2 Gleaner sold for $2500...It had cut wheat in 2013..The late owner ran a custom harvesting business and ran as many as 3 Gleaners....I didnt watch any of the heads sell.

9-The plexiglass A Gleaner sold for $700...

10-There were (3) 40 AC's there and they sold for $850,$600,and $600...

11-The UC Allis tractor sold for $4100..

12-A slick 1993 Ford F-150 sold for $1750 and I wish now that I had bid on it..The Chevy 10 wheeler behind it sold for $7150..

13-The A Gleaner on the left sold for $575 and the one on the right with the 3 row corn head sold for $700..

14-The two 60 AC's sold for $225 and $200 for scrap..

15-There were tons of AC garden tractors and mowers there..The G Allis sold for $3300...

I got to meet several forum members and we had a nice visit..At 4:30 pm we left for home with over an hour still to go on the sale..We made it home at 10;30 pm after a fun day..

Blaine.

Looks like things brought pretty good money.

That first little combine (1951 R) looks to be in great shape for it's age.

Thank for the update.

Thank you so much for the pictures and comments. The pictures of trucks and equipment that you put on this forum. They are something like we never see in the north east. That 93 Ford pickup looked perfect, here, it would have been rotted away by road salt. And the old equipment, the dry climate you have seems to make "time stand still" Please keep posting more pictures of trucks, tractors, towns , ect. I enjoy them all. Bruce

Wow. If I ever run across another decent Ferguson/Belle City picker I should grab it. (Last one I saw was at least that good and sold for $500).

The price on that picker was unreal...Two guys wanted it and it went to $2400 just like that...I figured it would do good to make $300-500..

Mark, that was by far the nicest R Gleaner combines that I have ever seen....It went to the Agco dealer at Mt Hope,KS whom has quite a collection....I talked to him a little and told him I remembered when he and his brother pulled a D-19 and D-21 AC's in the early 1970's..

Guys, there was some money at that sale and lots of stuff sold great..There were people there from as far away as Canada..The tools all sold high and there were lots of them...Heres some more prices..

Vise on a stand $410
Allis space heater $600
Allis power washer $150
Allis chain saw $275
Allis garden tiller $275
Allis welder $90
Allis one way $1250
Allis 2 bottom plow on steel $375
Allis silage chopper $900
WD-45 Allis ran great-new tires $2600-not painted
Wide front WC Allis $3000
Early WC Allis on rubber $1500

I was looking on Craigslist and saw pickups similar to that nice 1993 F-150 priced at $2500 or more so it was cheap...

Thanks for posting Blaine. Would have loved to go, but you cant make them all!

Was there anymore to the A with the glass panel in the side? Was labeled as a experimental, wasn't sure if it had any other interesting attachments.

Jim

If my ole memory serves me right, I think Gene told me that A with the glass in the sides came out of the Liberty Mo. plant. It was used a little bit to watch as the crop passed through so they could see the actual flow. It was later used as a display. Forget how he managed to get it. I do know he picked up a lot of his combines at the plant.

Gleaner put out several of those A's with the plexiglass sides for both demonstration and use at the factory. There is a nice one at the Ag Hall of Fame in Bonner Springs that Gleaner donated. I remember one at Independence but I imagine that was gone long ago now. The one I saw at Independence could be this one at the sale. I know they made several this way.

1206 do you have any idea who bought the L2. If it was a scrapper or salvage yard, I'd like to have the tires off of it. They are probably 23.1X 34's I live in SE Kansas and chickened out on going when spent the morning doing chores in a regular blizzard.
