Case 1665 engine update

Well I finally got my engine rebuilt. I started yesterday and it fired right up. Does anyone know what the rated no load engine rpm should be? My book only shows the idle rpm which is 500-550 rpm. The next task will be putting it back on the combine. Wish me luck!

Thanks,
Dan B

Dan, I think no load engine speed is 2250rpm, but I set the engine speed with the machine drive engaged and set the main combine cross shaft no load speed at 915rpm, my book also shows 600-650 idle speed, I can scan the page from my ops if you need the instructions on how to set the speed

Thanks for the help! I have an operator's manual for it. What page are you looking at? I was looking at the timing section and that is where I found the idle speed of 500-550 rpm (page 82). I didn't see the cross shaft speed. Is the cross shaft the one that drives the cylinder? Thanks again,

Dan B

Dan mine is on pages 85 and 85a I also found the engine speed after I posted before it is 2160rpm no load

Thanks again for the help! Our manuals must be slightly different because I was able to find the page you scanned, but it was a different page number. Also, it has the cross shaft rpm, but not the engine rpm.

Dan, I am sure you know this but after 20-30hrs or so you need to recheck your no load speed, after a engine break in they always seem to need reset, got any more pics of the job?
