On Thursday afternoon I took some pictures of the combines on the upcoming Hornbaker auction that will held March 29th near Tribune,KS...
This is the most early pull type combines that I have ever seen in one location..The amount of stuff on this farm is unreal..They say that 10-15 years ago that there was far more stuff there but that lots had been sold since then..Theres lots more there than what my pictures show..
Hopefully the nice Massey Super 27,Massey 92,IHC 141,the (3) MM Unis,45 JD,the Massey SP pickers, and a few of the big pull type combines such as the Caterpillar and the 36 John Deere with 20 ft head can be saved..The scrappers will get lots of the combines and tractors....They have about 50-60 nice tractors and old Cats to sell in town on Friday..
For those that have never been in western Kansas, this is open country with huge farms...Its often 3-5 miles between farm houses....In order for Mr Hornbaker to have gathered so many old combines the farms had to have been much closer together in years past..Most of the old time collectors in western Kansas have now passed on and their collections have been or are now being sold off..
