I have friend that has a John Deere 120 corn snapper he wants to sell to me for $950 I would like to mount it on my John Deere B tractor I have not seen another one here in Illinois was they used more so in the south? can they be used on 30 inch corn rows? he seems a little high to but you guys are very helpful thanks for any feed back on the 120 picker River

Any kind of corn picker in nice condition is getting harder and harder to find, so they're going for more than they used to. That 120 1-row will pick 30" rows . . . and yes, snappers were more common down south.

Enlighten somebody who does not farm in the corn belt. I know the difference between a snapper and picker but why would someone choose a snapper over a picker back in the day?

One reason I've been told is down south they liked to keep the husks on the ears in the crib because it supposedly gave the corn protection from insects. Some people also liked to have the husks on for added roughage when they ground ear corn for feed.
